October 9, 1929 – May 11, 2024
We are very sorry to advise that long time ADRA director, past Treasurer and community activist, Ray Richards, passed away on May 11, 2024, at the age of 94. Ray and his late wife, Joan, lived in Dundarave since 1991. They were a big part of the laneway neighbourhood. Ray was active in many community groups including the West Vancouver Shoreline Protection Society. Ray always attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies at Memorial Park, holding a high regard for the Canadian Army and their involvement in WWII. Ray was a very devoted hockey fan, holding season tickets to the Canucks since 1992. For many years, Ray and his friends would take the special WV Blue Hockey Bus to the games. Ray was thrilled the Canucks were in the playoffs this season, watching them through his last night. Ray left his imprint on West Vancouver, never leaving a word or opinion unstated, letting the mayor and council of the day know, just how the municipality was being run, in his view. Ray will be sorely missed on the ADRA board and remains an inspiration to all.
