Ambleside Local Area Plan

The Ambleside Local Area Plan has been divided into three sections: Neighbourhoods, Commercial Area and Apartment Zone. Currently, the Planning is seeking input from residents to help create a view of what the business section of Ambleside could look like 20-30 years in the future. The Apartment Zone has gone through a Public Hearing process in late June 2024 with bylaw changes passed by Council in July 2024. It is anticipated that further amendments to the Apartment Zone will be brought forward later this year.

APARTMENT ZONE – July 2024

A public hearing took place on June 24,2024 to consider amendments to the existing OCP Bylaws. Some of the proposed amendments proved significantly controversial around density and land use issues. The community was somewhat divided on the future vision for this area.  On July 22,2024 a Notice of Motion was given third reading and adopted by Council. At that time, it was acknowledged that a further process would be required to resolve outstanding community issues around density and land use in the Apartment Zone. ADRA will continue to work with staff, Council and residents to create a vision for the next 20-30 years which would have a high level of community support. Stay tuned!
